Celcom launches PortaWiFi, promises to keep you connected On-the-Go

Celcom has just launched PortaWiFi in collaboration with Huawei. PortaWiFi is a mobile WiFi hotspot device that will keep you connected on-the-go all throughout Malaysia.

Boasting data speeds of up to 21Mbps, PortaWiFi will not just keep one of your devices connected at all times. Instead, up to 5 devices can be connected at any one time, so you can share your mobile WiFi hotspot with friends and family.

PortaWiFi basically looks like a regular USB dongle that you can connect to your laptop or PC to get instant access to the Internet. It also comes together with a car adapter/charger and 3-pin point adapter for home and indoor usage, so you can always stay connected even on the road or when you go to a relative’s house that doesn’t have WiFi connectivity.

The device itself costs RM159, but Celcom is offering it in bundled packages. There are three tiers, namely Basic, Advance and Pro, with offerings of 4GB, 6GB and 10GB of data volume respectively a month. The contract period is 12 months, and the monthly package price is RM68, RM98 and RM138 respectively.

As part of the partnership between them and Huawei, Celcom is also offering bundled packages for the 7-inch Huawei MediaPad. The RRP of the tablet is RM999, but Celcom is offering it for as low as RM299 with a 24-month contract. There are three different tiers to choose from as well.

Celcom claims that the PortaWiFi is the first of its kind to land here in Malaysia. Both the PortaWiFi and Huawei MediaPad bundled packages can be purchased from today onwards at all Celcom Blue Cube outlets nationwide.
