Ng Oon-Ee has now got something no other Malaysian has – a 4G-enabled Internet car powered by Yes and Proton, complete with a Yes 4G huddle, 3 Apple iPads, a built-in Sony audio system, 18-inch sports wheels and a titanium black glass tint for a sleek look.
The car is actually a customized version of a regular Proton Inspira, and is said to worth RM100,000. Oon-Ee won the car after emerging champion of the ‘Win Malaysia’s First Internet 4G Car’ contest which was co-organised by Proton and Yes.
The contest mechanics required contestants to first like the Yes4G or Proton Facebook page. Then they had to create an avatar, after which they were required to complete a slogan on why they wanted the Yes 4G-equipped Internet car.
Contestants then had to canvass for people to vote for their entry. 20 individuals with the highest votes collected proceeded to the final round, where a panel of judges picked the winners based on the most creative slogans submitted.
At the awards presentation ceremony, Yes claimed that the contest was a success, since it received 10,000 entries, and in the process, their Facebook page saw a 40,000 increase in the number of ‘likes’.
Second place went to Chew Yoong Sen, who won an Apple iPad 2, Yes 4G Huddle, Yes ID starter pack and a Valuepack 150, while third place belonged to Yew Hong Tat, who walked away with a Yes 4G Huddle, Yes ID starter pack and Valuepack 150. 10 consolation prize winners won themselves a Yes 4G starter pack and Valuepack 68 respectively.
