Students of Advanced Diploma in Mass Communication (Public Relations) of Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) collaborated with the Nokia Sustainability Division South East Asia Pacific and launched ‘1 Phone. 1 Life. 1 Earth’ phone recycling campaign that was held from 9 to 11 July 2012 at their Setapak main campus. This is to encourage students and public to practise mobile phone recycling and saving wildlife.
At the launch, there were educational exhibitions prepared by the students on the process of mobile phone recycling, the history of Nokia, and also a showcase of how turtles play an important role in balancing our ecosystem. Plus, there was a special appearance of Nokia’s Mobile Man, a human-looking robot made from hundreds of mobile phones and accessories to showcase as part of its green efforts.Nokia will be contributing USD2 to a turtle conservation project for each mobile phone collected during the campaign period. Users who recycle their phones will be receiving premium items from Nokia itself and the recyclers are also eligible for the lucky draw to win a brand new Nokia Lumia 900.
